ADM buys grain elevator in Poland

Archer-Daniels-Midland Co (ADM) has acquired a grain elevator in Poland that will be consolidated with the company's other operations in the area.

The elevator, located at Slawa Wielkopolska has 30,000 tonnes of grain storage capacity, along with drying and aspiration equipment, ADM said in a press release Thursday (Apr 27).

ADM, one of the world's largest processors of soybeans, corn and wheat, said the elevator will be consolidated with the company's Polish oilseed crushing and refining operations in Szamotuly.

The elevator will fully utilise its capacity during the upcoming 2006 harvest, the company said in the release.
