Andersons Inc to build giant ethanol plant in Indiana

Construction work is scheduled to start on Anderson Inc's 110-million-gallon ethanol plant after the company initiated a groundbreaking ceremony in Clymers, Indiana on Thursday (Apr 27).

When completed by the first quarter of 2007, the Clymers plant will be the largest of its kind east of the Mississippi River. 318,000 tonnes of distillers dried grains to be used as animal feed ingredient would also be produced yearly, in addition to the ethanol.

Andersons Inc is a 37 percent equity investor in The Andersons Clymers Ethanol LLC, which will operate the facility.

The company also has stakes in an ethanol plant in Albion, Michigan and another in Indiana. Both of these plants are under construction and are expected to come online this year. One plant will have a 55 million gallon production capacity and the other a 40-million-gallon capacity.
