Beef exports in Argentina down in Q1
Increased livestock prices in Argentina last year has resulted in a drop of 5 percent in beef exports for the first quarter from a year ago.
An Argentinean beef consortium said prices of livestock rose US 0.63 cents a kg in the first quarter of 2004 to 70 cents in 2005. Strong competition from Brazil has contributed as well to Argentina's falling beef exports.
However, the recent dip in livestock prices this year at the Liniers market facilities could mean some savings would be passed on to consumers.
