Australian Dairy Exporter To Build Three New Plants To Boost China Exports
Sydney-based Yosica Dairy Group is contemplating building three new milk dairy plants to cater for the lucrative China dairy market.
Yosica is investigating building a $30 million plant in Corryong with the capacity to process one million litres a year.
A company spokeswoman said it was too early to comment on any plans but it is believed the company also has plans to build a plant in Gippsland and another in south-west Victoria.
The company has been discussing supply issues with dairy farmers in the Upper Murray.
Towong Shire Council mayor Lyn Coulstan said discussions were at a preliminary stage and company representatives were expected to return in the next few weeks.
Towong chief executive officer Ray Park confirmed he had met a representative from the company but no formal proposal had been put to council.
