India's cattle feed plant to upgrade to five tonnes per hour

 

 

By installing latest machinery at an estimated cost of INR2.20 crore (US$42 million) under NABARD funding, India's cattle feed plants are being upgraded from two tonnes capacity to five tonnes per hour, said Ghulam Hassan Mir, Minister for Agriculture.

 

The Minister said this while inspecting the plant this afternoon. Managing Director J&K Agro Industries Development Corporation Limited, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone accompanied the Minister.

 

The Minister asked the NABARD to complete the project design at an earliest, so that the upgrading work of the plant can be started. He said that the plant has been succeeded in gaining the trust of people of the J&K and urged upon the management, workers to devote full time for increasing the quality production of cattle feed. He assured the workers that the all the facilities shall be provided besides, special incentives would also be given for showing better performance.

 

Mir said that lot of improvements is being shown in the plant by the management by running it into two and half shifts. He said still there is lot of scope for its further improvement and asked the management to work in this direction.

 

He also asked the management to take measures for purchase of raw material from the farmers of J&K as the basic objective of corporation is to support this community.

 

During the Visit, the Minister was informed that the profits earned by the Cattle Feed Plant have registered a quantum jump from 46 lakhs during 2008-09 to 2.17 crore in 2011- 12 by producing 69756 qtls in last fiscal year. For increasing the production, the Minister was further informed that INR64 lakh (US$121,000) has been spent for civil and fabrication works carried in the plant.

 

Later Minister also inspected the Petrol pump of the J&K Agro Industries development Corporation Limited, at Bari Brahmana, and stressed on increasing the working hours of the pump for better turnout. He was informed that the total turnout of the pump is INR5 crore (US$949,000).
