Russia temporarily bans Germany, Czech Republic pig imports
Live pig stock from Germany and the Czech Republic that tested positive for brucellosis has been temporarily banned by Russia's sanitary watchdog, the service said Thursday (Apr 26).
The disease can be transmitted from animals to humans through the consumption of infected dairy products and meat.
In December, Russia's Belgorod Region imported 620 breeding pigs from Germany and 637 pigs from the Czech Republic.
