Gold'n Plump completes expansion in Wisconsin
US poultry producer Gold'n Plump has completed the expansion of its production facility in Arcadia, Wisconsin by 22,000 square feet.
The facility, purchased in 1993 by Gold'n Plump, finished its latest expansion at a cost of US$25.4 million, along with US$8.9 million for more breeder and grower barns in the area.
The expansion, first announced in 2006, was for US$38 million and would have been partly funded by a US$975,000 Wisconsin Department of Commerce low-interest loan.
Gold'n Plump decided not to take the loan along with a US$25,000 training grant and the project was delayed due to economic conditions, said Bill Petz, director of Arcadia operations.
Arcadia Plant Manager Mandy Korpal said that the delay in expansion afforded Gold'n Plump the opportunity to use better technology in the facility.
"We actually are the first to use some new technologies here," Korpal said.
