WHO: Swine flu virus seen in Mexico, US "essentially same"
The World Health Organization said Sunday (April 26) cases of swine flu seen in US patients and those in Mexico, where the outbreak was first reported, are essentially the same.
Dr. Keiji Fukuda, the WHO's temporary assistant director-general for Health Security and the Environment, made the comments on a media call, which the health body plans to hold daily.
Saturday, an emergency committee of the WHO said swine flu represents a public health emergency "of international concern."
