GrainCorp to include GM grains after this season
Grain handler GrainCorp said Australia's main canola export crop will include GM grains after this season.
Farmers who want their crops rated as non-GM will have to pay for testing of their grain, the company said.
Last year, GM canola was kept separate, but GrainCorp corporate affairs manager David Ginn said the much larger crop will go into the main collection this year.
Ginn said the company segregated the GM canola last year according to the standards set by the Australian Oilseeds Federation, but they've got a new set of standards coming in from the Federation this year.
