USDA says 6,000 hogs may have eaten contaminated feed

The US Agriculture Department (USDA) said on Thursday (April 26) an estimated 6,000 hogs in New York, Kansas, California, Utah, North Carolina, South Carolina and Oklahoma may have consumed the contaminated feed which was the cause of large recall of pet food last week.

A USDA official said the states have already quarantined farms believed to have been affected by the tainted feed.

USDA also said it believed a poultry feed mill in Missouri may have purchased contaminated feed with melamine.
