Brazil nears its soybean harvest
Nearly three-quarters of Brazil's grain production for the 2006-2007 crop are seen to be harvested by the end of April. According to the latest Crop Survey and Assessment, the volume will account for 91 million tonnes out of a total 131.1 million tonnes forecasted for the current crop.
The main cultures to be harvested are summer cultures. According to the survey, 95 percent of the soy crop or an estimated in 58 million tonnes, will have been harvested by the end of this month.
The first corn harvest, also to take place by end-April, is seen at 70 percent or estimated at 36.6 million tonnes.
Harvest for the second corn crop will begin late this month.
