Delacon's phytogenic additive gets positive scientific opinion from EFSA (Press Release)
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) panel has released a positive scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of Delacon's phytogenic additive FRESTA® F for weaned piglets.
Following a request from the European Commission, the Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety for the target animal(s), consumer, user and the environment and the efficacy of the product FRESTA® F for weaned piglets at a recommended dose range of 250–400 mg/kg complete feeding stuff.
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has investigated FRESTA® F for use as feed additive for weaned piglets, and found the product to be both safe and effective. It was concluded that FRESTA® F at the minimum proposed dose (250 mg/kg complete feed) has the potential to improve the growth rate of weaned piglets.
FRESTA® F is a preparation of partially micro-encapsulated essential oils from caraway and lemon, dried spices and dried herbs.
Delacon is the first Phytogenic Feed Additives producing company who got a positive scientific opinion of EFSA on the safety and efficacy of one of its products.
