Ukraine to produce nearly 9 million tonnes of main oilseeds

According to the current forecasts of the association Ukroliaprom, in 2010, the potential of production of the main oilseed crops in Ukraine totals nearly 9 million tonnes.

Taking into the account the expected growth of the basic capacities of oilseed, Stepan Kapshuk, the general director of the association, said processing industry in Ukraine to the level of 9.2 million tonnes per year in 2010, Ukraine will be able to process the complete volumes of oilseeds at the domestic enterprises.

The association also forecasts the growth of oilseed processing capacities to the level of 10 million tonnes in 2011, at the expense of reconstruction and launching of new enterprises.

According to estimations, as of January 1, 2010, the general oilseed processing capacities in Ukraine totaled 8.7 million tonnes per year.
