Argentina's February grain stocks at 13.84 million tonnes

 

 

Stocks of major grains and oilseeds in Argentina totalled 13.84 million tonnes as of February 28, according to the latest provisional data from the National Office for the Control of Agricultural Trade, Oncca.

 

Stocks of corn, soybeans, sunseed, wheat and 59 "other crops" are up 7.6 percent from 12.86 million tonnes at the same time last year.

 

The "other crops" category includes goods like peanuts and rice, etc.

 

Stocks were down 2.7 percent from January, when 14.23 million tonnes of grains and oilseeds were held.

 

Argentina's grain storage capacity in February totalled 49.3 million tonnes while utilised capacity was 13.84 million tonnes, or 28.06 percent of capacity. The country has 3,033 storage plants, from small silos to large industrial storage facilities.

 

The following information, which is for stocks in tonnes for major grains and oilseeds as of February 28, 2007, January 31, 2007, and February 28, 2006 does not include grains and oilseeds held privately by farmers.

 

The information refers to the total amount of stocks held by millers and crushers, as well as grains stored in silos.
