Russia's Belgorod Broiler invests US$300 million in new poultry farm

Russia's Belgorod Broiler, incorporated in the PRIOS holding company, has signed an agreement with the Ulyanovsk regional administration for an investment project.

Ulyanovsk is a city on the Volga River in Russia, 893 km east from Moscow.

Belgorod is investing US$300 million to develop a poultry-breeding business with an annual capacity of up to 50,000 tonnes of poultry. The money will be used to build an incubator, a processing factory and a waste recycling facility.

A USDA report released in February said that Russia's National Priority Project is  stimulating additional pork and poultry production in Belgorod, Lipetsk, Penza and other provinces. Imposition of import quotas on meat coupled with political support had accounted for much of the expansion of pork and poultry meat production in the region.
