5.6 percent rise in China fishmeal imports in March

China imported 77,112 tonnes of fishmeal in March, up 5.6 percent from February, and a 41 percent fall from the same period last year.

Imports in March came mostly from:

Peru:     54,720 tonnes;

US:        6,009 tonnes;

Chile:     4,959 tonnes.

For the period from January to March 2006, China's fishmeal imports totalled 219,790 tonnes.
