Marel's largest-ever single sale in fish processing

Provider of advanced equipment, systems and services to the fish, meat and poultry industries-Marel recently concluded its largest-ever single sale to the fish processing industry with a seafood processor in northeast China.

The new whitefish processing flowlines feature solutions developed to meet the requirements of Chinese fish processors. An increasingly challenging labor market and higher operating costs have increased demand for more automation, a niche for Marel's economic and labor-saving solutions.

The latest in a series of major sales to the global seafood sector, this contract highlights Marel's strategy of focusing increasingly on rapidly growing emerging markets such as China. Its commitment in China was underscored last year with the appointment of Henry Hsieh to head the team at Marel's Qingdao-based Fish Industry Center, a subsidiary of the company's main office in Beijing.
