IDEXX Laboratories releases new bird flu test kit

IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. has announced the worldwide launch of the first USDA-licensed ELISA test kit that identifies antibodies against any bird flu virus subtype in five bird species--chicken, turkey, duck, goose, ostrich--with a single test.

The FlockChek AI MultiS-Screen Ab Test Kit obtains robust results through excellent sensitivity and specificity, reducing confirmatory tests and saving time and money.

The test kit screens and monitors bird populations for the bird flu virus, and the results are identified at 13 days post-infection.

Ready-to-use reagents are part of the test kit to allow simultaneous testing of multiple samples for higher throughput. Tests can be semi-automated or processed robotically to decrease human error.

The FlockChek AI MultiS-Screen Ab Test is the latest IDEXX ELISA solution designed to help government regulators, laboratories, and poultry owners and producers monitor bird flu in a demanding environment, according to Frank Winslow, senior marketing program manager of IDEXX Production Animal Services.
