In the first 16 days of April, Ukraine's grain exports rose 5. % to 1.14 million tonnes, agricultural researcher UkrAgroConsult said.
That compares with 1.08 million tonnes in a similar period in March, the researcher, which is based in the capital Kiev, wrote in an e-mailed statement Friday (Apr 20).
Shipments included 618,000 tonnes of corn, 363,000 tonnes of wheat and 133,000 tonnes of barley, the researcher said. Wheat was shipped to Egypt, Israel and Vietnam, UkrAgroConsult said. Corn went to Egypt, Israel and Iran, and barley was shipped to Syria, Jordan and Morocco.
Another 1.07 million tonnes of grain, of which 725,000 tonnes is corn, will be shipped in the near future, the researcher said. This will include 300,000 tonnes of wheat and 20,000 tonnes of barley, according to the statement.
