The Buhler Grain Milling business unit presented its new Polaris purifier at the IPACK-IMA trade show in Milan, Italy, at March.
The Polaris offers a 20-percent increase in throughput capacity, improved sanitation, and maximum product safety. The Polaris purifies and grades semolina and middlings in durum, soft wheat and corn mills.
The product's sieve width is 520 millimeters, 60-millimeters more than the sieve width of the predecessor model MQRF, though the former sieve length of four times 500 millimeters is retained.
The Polaris is available as a compact and double-deck machine with an increased screen area, and the air flow inside the new machine was optimised.
Machine developer Urs Zwahlen said calculations showed that the new flow conditions in conjunction with the screen width of 520 millimeters provide an optimal space-to-throughput yield, and the reliable material feed and pre-stratification of the material in the inlet maximise the separating efficiency.
All components in contact with the product are made of stainless materials and it is of a completely enclosed design.
The swing-up air ducts allow easy and efficient cleaning, and the streamlined aspiration system ensures sanitary conditions. The purifier has impact- and age-resistant inspection windows, and has a user-friendly air control system and integrated LED lighting.
