USDA to discuss poultry improvement plan
The USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) would be holding a meeting to discuss the national poultry improvement plan (NPIP) on June 5, 2008.
The general conference committee will serve as a link between the poultry industry and USDA regarding poultry health.
The committee will also assist the USDA in planning, organising and conducting the NPIP conference.
Topics will include the H5/H7 low pathogenic bird flu program (LPAI) for commercial layers, broilers and turkeys.
The conference will also discuss the compartmentalization of notifiable bird flu free zones, H5/H7 LPAI program for raised-for-release upland game bird flocks and assessment of rapid detection assays for salmonella.
The assessment of antigen detection assays for bird flu will also be considered.
