FPL invests US$4.29 million in former OSI plant

FPL Food, the fourth largest beef processing facility in southeastern US, will invest US$4.29 million in a 75,000-square-foot plant that was formerly owned by OSI Group.

Once reopened, the facility in West Columbia, South Carolina will house a part of FPL's Georgia-based workforce plus 100 additional workers, according to a release from the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce.

The additional capacity will allow FPL to boost its manufacture of fully cooked and value added products, said CEO Francois Leger in the release.

FPL is a fully integrated beef processing facility based in Augusta, Georgia. It manufactures a range of traditional and specialty ground beef products, such as sausages, pre-formed patties and packages for the meat case.
