Hogs from quarantined Ceres farm traced to four Californian facilities

Investigators have traced hogs that may have eaten poisoned pet food to at least four meat vendors in Northern California.

State agriculture officials say they've accounted for pigs from The American Hog Farm in Ceres at two of the facilities before they could be sold.

The state put the Ceres hog farm under quarantine Wednesday after discovering animals there ate salvaged pet food tainted with a chemical called melamine.

Investigators with the California Department of Food and Agriculture are still trying to account for numerous hogs from a custom slaughterhouse in Half Moon Bay, California, called Bar None.

Health officials are not sure if any of the animals from the slaughterhouse were exposed to the contaminated feed but are still trying to contact its customers.
