Russia's domestic poultry output this year is likely to increase by 13.6 percent, compared with 2008, to 2.5 million tonnes, the national poultry growers association Rosptitsesoyuz said Thursday (Apr 23).
Rosptitsesoyuz said Russia's poultry import this year would fall by 22.6 percent, compared with 2008, to 952,000 tonnes.
The share of imported poultry in the total national poultry consumption this year will fall to 27 percent from 36 percent in 2008, and by 2012 it should not exceed 10 percent, Rosptitsesoyuz said.
In January to March Russia produced 700,100 tonnes of poultry, more than double compared with the corresponding period last year.
