Malaysia aims to join Indonesia in cattle-breeding venture

Malaysia plans to enter into a joint-venture cattle-breeding project with Indonesia to increase domestic food supply.

Large-scale breeding would be done at oil palm plantations in Malaysia with a total area of 6 million hectares, according to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

The project is expected to output at least 12 million head of cattle, which could boost domestic supply in both Malaysia and Indonesia.

According to Najib, the Institute of Strategic and International Studies will work on the details of the project.
