Danisco's Genencor kicks off operations at new facility in China

Genencor, a division of Danisco A/S, has kicked off operations at its new Chinese facility in Wuxi New High-Tech Industrial Park, Jiangsu province.

 

Serving as the division's production, technology, applications and service centre for the Asia-Pacific, the 20,000-sq metre facility is certified ISO 9001, Food Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Kosher and Halal, Genencor said Apr 20 in its press release on the opening.

 

The site also has its own wastewater treatment plant, warehouse, applications lab, canteen and office building.

 

"China is an important engine to propel the growth of the industrial enzyme market. By establishing this new facility, we plan to reinforce our commitment to continually invest resources to support our customers in this region," said Tjerk de Ruiter, Chief Executive Officer, Genencor.

 

Employing some 200 people, the facility will use its advanced fermentation technology to produce a wide range of enzyme products for several markets including grain, food processing, industrial specialties, cleaning and textiles.

 

Carole Cobb, Senior Vice President, Global Supply, commented that Genencor's base of talented and experienced employees played a major role in the new facility's successful start up.
