Fonterra milk auction increases 20%

One of the international dairy market barometers - the New Zealand co-op Fonterra's auction - has seen increases of more than 20% in prices for wholemilk powder, skim powder and anhydrous milk fat.

While New Zealand milk producers will be looking for a significant price increase on the back of the auction results, those in the northern hemisphere including the UK will also be looking to their milk buyers for some positive signals.

Wholemilk powder increased 21% from March to US$3,969 a tonne, skim powder 25.5% to US$3,672 a tonne and anhydrous milk fat 21.9% to US$4,827.
