Ukraine's grain sales take a downturn

 
 

In the period from January to March this year, Ukraine sold 46,900 tonnes of grains, a decrease of 51.2% compared to the same period in 2009.

 

Wheat sale volumes declined by 66.8% to 22,500 tonnes. Barley sales were down 30.9% to 15,100 tonnes, and corn was down 91.4% to 100 tonnes.

 

In the first quarter of 2010, the average price of grains offered to producers, totalled UAH1,140 (US$143.85) per tonne, including wheat which was UAH1,070 (US$135.02) per tonne.
