Russia's grain exports reach 17.1 million tonnes in mid-April
Russia has exported 17.1 million tonnes of grain as of April 17, according to the Agriculture Ministry on Tuesday (Apr 21).
The shipments included 15.13 million tonnes of wheat and 1.97 million tonnes of barley, the Ministry said.
There were no comparisons with year-ago volumes. The 2008-09 crop year begun on July 1, 2008.
Russia exported 902,000 tonnes of grain in the first 17 days of April, including 750,000 tonnes of wheat and 152,000 tonnes of barley, the Ministry said.
The Ministry said Russia could export a record 18-20 million tonnes of grain this crop year.
