Russia March cattle numbers down 2.1 percent on-year
The number of cattle in Russia on March 31 was 21.8 million, 2.1 percent less than a year ago, the federal statistics service said Tuesday (April 21).
The number of cows on the date fell by 2.2 percent on the year to 9.1 million. The number of pigs increased by 4.1 percent to 17.1 million while sheep and goats increased by 2 percent to 22.5 million.
Total meat output in Russia in January to March, including cattle, pork and poultry in live weight, increased by 11.4 percent on the year to 2.1 million tonnes.
