China and Ecuador sign agriculture cooperation pact

China and Ecuador signed an agreement to boost their agriculture cooperation on Tuesday (Apr 20).

The agreement was aimed at promoting bilateral technical and economic support, increasing agriculture products trade, and strengthening cooperation in scientific research as well as in agriculture and livestock production.

The two countries will carry out cooperation projects, which involve expert exchange, agriculture policy discussion, agriculture technician training and genetic resources exchange.

The agreement also included the creation of a working group called the "Chinese-Ecuadorian Committee" to supervise bilateral cooperation activities. The committee will be headed by the Chinese and Ecuadorian agriculture ministers or their representatives.
