Vietnam declares FMD eradication in April
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) in Vietnam has asked its provinces and cities to make all efforts to remove FMD in April.
The disease has spread into 24 provinces across the country, threatening the country's livestock industry, the government said on its website.
Blue-ear disease has attacked pig herd in central provinces of Nghe An and Quang Tri, forcing local farmers to burry 963 pigs.
The MARD requested localities to detect early the disease and apply proper measures to eradicate the disease, prevent it from further spreading.
Meanwhile, the country's poultry is still facing threat of bird flu. The ministry urged localities to improve hygienic of production facilities to prevent animals from the disease.
So far this year, farmers reported over 29,000 poultry heads affected with the bird flu, over 57,000 of them were buried.
