Russian January-February pork imports rise

Russia bought 83,400 tonnes of pork in January-February, an increase of 36.8% as compared with January-February 2010, the federal statistics agency reported Tuesday (Apr 19).

Pork imports in February totalled 50,000 tonnes, 25.3% more than in February 2010 and 49.5% more than in January this year.

Poultry imports in January-February totalled 30,700 tonnes, 15.9% less than in January-February 2010. Poultry imports in February were 16,500 tonnes, 32.4% more than in February 2010 and 16.6% more than in January this year.
