Brazil's pork export volume takes a downturn
For the first two months of this year, Brazil's pork exports were down 10% in volume but up 3% in value.
According to figures from the Brazilian Pork Industry and Exporters Association (Abipecs), pork exports for 2010 to the end of February were 75,356 tonnes, down 10.1% from last year.
However, average prices (in US dollars)were 14% higher and so the value of the exports for this year were up 3% compared to the same period of 2009 to a little under US$174.3 million.
