Due to the recent outbreak of low pathogenic avian influenza, Belarus has imposed temporary restrictions on poultry imports from the Netherlands.
This was learnt from the veterinary and food surveillance department of the Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus.
According to Rosselkhoznadzor (the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance), low pathogenic avian influenza was detected at the Province of Gelderland and Flevoland, the Netherlands. "In order to prevent the spread of the disease, starting April 18 Belarus temporarily bans the import of live poultry, incubating eggs, poultry meat and all other kinds of processed poultry, feathers, fodder made of poultry as well as second-hand equipment for poultry breeding, slaughtering and dressing," the department said.
At the same time Belarus cancels all previously issued permits for import of the above-mentioned goods from the aforementioned provinces of the Netherlands.
