Ukraine's 2012 grain supply to surpass 63 million tonnes
Sergei Petrenko, representative of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine declared that in 2012, taking into account the carry-over stocks, the total supply of grains on the Ukrainian market will exceed 63 million tonnes.
He reminded that in 2011 the general grain production was estimated at the level of 56.7 million tonnes. S.Petrenko stressed that the updated total supply of grains will exceed the level of 63 million tonnes, taking into account the carry-over stocks. At the same time, he stressed that despite the significant re-sowing areas of perished winter crops in the current year, there is no reason to increase grain prices on the domestic market.
He reminded that the Ministry expects for the grain harvest in 2012 within the range of 54-60 million tonnes, the export forecast - 20-24 million tonnes, including nearly 6-10 million tonnes of wheat, 11.5-12.5 million tonnes of corn, nearly 3.5 million tonnes of barley.
As a reminder, as of April 1, 2012, the carry-over stocks of grains at the enterprises of Ukraine increased by 70% - to 17.1 million tonnes.
