JSR enters franchise agreement with Taiwanese firm

JSR has reaffirmed its keen interest in working with pig producers in Asia by signing a franchise contract with Evabiotech Ltd of Er Lun County in Taiwan.

The contract, giving Evabiotech the JSR franchise for the entire Taiwan region, is based on impending shipments of JSR Genepacker Dams and JSR Geneconverter 500 Sires.

JSR international sales director Paul Anderson said it is vital in achieving the genetic potential of animals and also helps to determine future developments. Anderson said the companies are now aiming to introduce the JSR Geneconverter 600 into this market: the lean meat content of its carcass will help reduce the local cost of production.

Late last year, JSR secured an agreement to supply two of Ukraine's largest pig producers with high-health breeding stock. The firm first exported animals to Ukraine in 2006 to supply Vira-1 Ltd in the Volyn region, with over 1,400 animals.

JSR Genetics Ltd are part of the group of agriculture-based companies that comprise the family owned JSR Farming Group established in 1958.
