Foot-and-mouth-disease slows down in Vietnam
The central Veterinary Department in Vietnam said Tuesday (April 17) the number of foot-and-mouth disease infecting localities is already declining, according to local journal Thanh Nien News.
Only seven communes in three provinces - Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, and Son La - were still affected, compared to 13 cities and provinces last month, it said.
However, the department cautioned local authorities and farmers not to lax and instead continue to tighten epidemic-control measures to prevent a possible return of the disease.
The government has called for quarantining diseased cattle starting this month.
