Iran's 2011 urea fertiliser export up 142%

Showing an unprecedented growth in the country's export of the urea fertiliser, Iran's urea fertiliser export grew by 142% in 2011.

The exports totalled US$1,045,092,582. Afghanistan, Turkey, Syria, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Mexico, Mozambique and India were the largest markets for Iranian urea fertiliser in 2011.

Iranian petrochemical complex can produce some four million tonnes of urea fertiliser, whereas the country's need only reaches 1,800,000 tonnes. The fertiliser is a key material in cultivation of wheat.
