Argentina's poultry exports up 39 percent on-year

Argentina shipped 28,130 tonnes of poultry products during the first two months of 2008, up 39 percent from the same period a year earlier, animal and food-inspection agency Senasa said Wednesday.

The value of fresh and processed poultry and sub-products shipped during January and February totaled US$41.4 million, up 81 percent on the year, according to Senasa.

Chile and South Africa were the main markets for Argentina's fresh poultry shipments during the period.

China and Hong Kong were the leading buyers of sub-products, while Germany and Holland purchased most of the processed poultry.
