E. coli outbreaks from food on the rise- CDC

The rising cases of food-borne illness from E. coli (O157:H7) last year was not just because of meat but from vegetables, according to new data from the Georgia-based Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which canvassed 10 participating states.

CDC also investigated ailments deriving from salmonella, listeria and campylobacter.

Thanks for the wide implementation of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), E. coli cases from ground beef has dwindled, according to the CDC.

In a nutshell, CDC found that progress against some foodborne diseases has stalled, while cases of others considered under control are increasing.
