Ukraine meat output reaches 198,700 tonnes in Q1 2007
Ukraine's meat production in slaughter weight, including by-products, increased by 198,700 tonnes in the first three months of 2007 from 160,200 tonnes in the same period of 2006, marking a rise of 7 percent month-on-month and 20 percent year-on-year to 70,700 tonnes in March 2007, the State Statistics Committee said.
Pork output increased by 22 percent to 14,100 tonnes; beef production by 18.3 percent to 16,200 tonnes and other meat by-output by 20 percent to 1,300 tonnes in March 2007, compared to the previous month. Poultry output, on the other hand, declined by 1.2 percent on the month to 38,900 tonnes also in March 2007.
The country expects a 10 percent growth in the country's meat output for 2007, according to Deputy Agriculture Minister Petr Verbitsky.
