Sumitomo Chemical raises its methionine prices

Tokyo-based Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd announces today (Apr 17) a price rise of its feed-grade (minimum 99 percent) dl-methionine to US$2.75/kg in China and Asia-Pacific region. This is due to the high prices of raw materials such as naphtha, and also due to "high energy and transportation costs".

As such, the price of its liquid methionine analog will also be raised accordingly, the company reveals in its press release, adding that the new prices take effect immediately.

However, despite the price changes, Sumitomo assures that "all prior agreements and commitments will be honoured".
