Chile's ban on beef exports to EU challenged

The reason behind Chile's suspension of beef exports to the EU is being disputed, with emerging evidences that purportedly voluntary sanitation upgrades are being implemented under duress.

The full results of an EU sanitation inspection at Chilean beef processing facilities during February 2013 have not been released. However, the agriculture ministry maintains that they are not calling for the cessation of beef imports from Chile.
