China's trade deficit for livestock products shows increase
China's trade deficit of livestock products was US$630 million in January-February, up 79.9% from a year earlier, according to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture.
In January alone, the trade deficit jumped 233.6% to US$410 million, although it fell 19.2% to US$2.69 billion in 2009.
Livestock exports rose 16.5% on-year to US$600 million in the two months, while imports were up 42.2% at US$1.2 billion. The ministry did not provide breakdowns in its statement.
