Russia lifts meat ban on several countries

The Russian veterinary authorities, Rosselkhoznadzor, have lifted temporary restrictions on the export of animal products from a number of meat processing plants in Spain and the Czech Republic effective from April 15.

The authorities will strengthen laboratory control of antibiotic residues in products exported from plants in Spain while plants at the Czech Republic are to undergo more thorough microbiological testing.

Rosselkhoznadzor has also lifted temporary ban imposed on export of boneless beef and raw beef products from several Argentine plants including the Argentine Breeders and Packers SA and Swift Armour SA. Laboratory controls of products imported from these facilities have also been bolstered.

However, Rosselhoznador has temporarily banned imports from a plant in Germany, due to violations of veterinary and sanitary requirements of the Russian Federation.
