UK wheat exports rise 254,666 tonnes in February
                             

 
UK grain traders exported 254,666 tonnes of wheat in February, down from January's 352,822 tonnes, according to data from the Home Grown Cereals Authority published Wednesday (April 15).


However, this was a sharp increase on year when compared with February 2008 exports of 119,074 tonnes.


Wheat exports total 2.598 million tonnes eight months into the 2008-09 marketing year, more than double the 1.078 million tonnes for the same period the previous year.


The largest consumer for the month was the Netherlands, taking 99,048 tonnes of wheat.
