First quarter 2008 dairy production in China is expected to register an 11.8-percent increase compared with the same period last year, according to the country's vice agriculture minister Zhang Baowen, in a recent interview.
With government policies aim at boosting diary industry growth, as well as recent hike in milk prices, dairy cattle farmers in more regions are increasingly keen to expand the size of their herd. In March, average raw milk prices recorded a 50.3 percent on-year increase to RMB2.93/kg.
