China's DaChan to double poultry production on intense demand
China's DaChan Food announced plans to double its poultry production capacity by the end of 2009 due to strong demand for poultry and feed products.
DaChan chairman, Han Jia-hwan, said the short supply of pigs and surging pork prices have prompted more people to eat chicken, which costs less.
The company, according to Han, has a production capacity of 1.5 million tonnes of feed and processed foods at the end of 2007. It processed 146 million chickens last year.
