Vietnam to build US$5-million fisheries plant in Quang Ngai
Authorities in the central province of Quang Ngai have given a license to Quang Ngai Gallant Ocean Co. Ltd to build a fisheries plant costing US$5 million, officials said Wed (Apr 13).
To be located in Quang Phu Industrial Zone, Quang Ngai city, the plant is designed to churn out 20,000 tonnes of materials annually for export, with shrimp and tilapia being main products.
The company will start building the plant late this month and commission it in July.
In recent years, fish farming has become popular in the Quang Ngai province. Freshwater farms saw an increase of more than 34% compared to few years ago. Success of breeding marine life in rice fields, including shrimp and African carp in the region has been reported.
